Well, I guess all us Batman fans had this coming. Poor Warner Brothers had to scour the Earth for a bankable white guy to play Batman, besides Christian Bale. Apparently Joseph Gordon Levitt was unavailable. I was sold on him doing the angry, brooding thing from him in DKR.

It’s possible that Ben Affleck may serve decently in the role. But he’s not Bruce Wayne. He’s not Batman. He could be the Flash. He could be Steve Trevor. He has been a lousy Superman – on purpose – and he did a very good job in Hollywoodland.

Hopefully this is just a Chris Nolan mind-game. Zack Snyder chooses Affleck, public goes crazy, WB fires Snyder and Affleck, puts the project in turn around. Then Nolan finds his next Batman, someone who can actually stand toe-to-toe with Henry Cavill visually, thematically and in the acting chops department.

As I’ve said before, if you want to make a gritty, realistic, excellent Batman, who is the perfect foil for squeaky clean, happy-go-plucky Clark Kent, it’s Idris Elba:

Idris Elba – he barely needs the cape and cowl.

Batman is not Batfleck
